Hibbett, the prominent athletic-inspired fashion retailer, has taken a significant step to bolster its digital security by adopting the Cequence Unified API Protection (UAP) platform. This strategic move aims to strengthen API security and bot management across Hibbett’s extensive online and in-store operations.
In response to a critical SaaS migration to Oracle Cloud and Azure Active Directory, Hibbett recognized the urgent need for enhanced API security to protect its hybrid IT environment, which encompasses both on-premises and cloud-based systems. The migration led to a surge in API traffic, highlighting the necessity for advanced measures to ensure data integrity and operational stability.
The Cequence UAP platform was chosen for its robust capabilities in automating threat detection and providing comprehensive protection for both internal and external APIs. This technology allows Hibbett to implement customized security policies to effectively manage and mitigate bot-related threats, all while maintaining seamless business operations and safeguarding existing partnerships.
Lee Morris, Senior Director of Security and Infrastructure Architecture at Hibbett, emphasized the impact of this technology: “By integrating Cequence’s platform, we’ve transformed our IT department from a cost center into a strategic asset that contributes significantly to our bottom line. The Unified API Protection solution has streamlined our processes and enhanced our ability to secure digital interactions, which is crucial for our ongoing success.”
Ameya Talwalkar, CEO of Cequence, noted the importance of tailored security solutions: “APIs are essential for modern retail and e-commerce, handling everything from cart management to payment processing. Ensuring their security is critical. Hibbett needed a customizable approach to address their unique challenges, and our platform provided that flexibility.”
With the Cequence UAP platform now in place, Hibbett is well-positioned to manage the complexities of its API interactions, ensuring robust security and operational efficiency across its 1,169 specialty stores and digital channels.
